A desperate ronin walks into a criminal gang looking for a meal and finds something closer to family than he ever had. The show moves at the speed of actual human connection, which means watching Masa and Yaichi circle each other, testing, trusting, breaking, feels like witnessing something real instead of performed. Nothing explodes here; everything that matters happens in the spaces between words, in the way a man's shoulders relax when he stops running.

Akitsu Masanosuke is a timid, capable swordsman adrift in the Edo period, repeatedly dismissed by employers who find him unreliable. Hungry and at his lowest point, he accepts a bodyguard job from Yaichi, an easygoing man who turns out to lead a band of outlaws called the Five Leaves. The group's activities trouble Masanosuke, yet he senses that Yaichi's true motives are not what they appear. The longer he stays among these eccentric companions, the more his principles are tested and the more curious he grows about their pasts and purpose. The result is a quiet period drama with a thread of mystery, built around a hesitant man slowly finding his footing among people he never expected to understand.
