These two don't transform to save the world. They transform because their boss will fire them if they don't, and even then they're actively resentful about it. The joke lands every single time because Mew and Mica treat planet-ending threats like interruptions to their lunch break, and the show never pretends this is secretly heroic or character growth waiting to happen. What you get instead is two lazy aliens who would rather argue about ice cream flavors than actually fight, and somehow that is exactly the superhero comedy anime needed to exist.

Mew and Mica are alien androids whose boss has sent them to guard the Earth. The trouble is that they may be the least motivated superheroines around. Where most heroes would drop everything to transform and fight monsters, these two refuse to let duty get in the way of ice cream, squabbles or whatever else has their attention. Out of costume, they pass as ordinary, rather cute schoolgirls who draw plenty of attention from the boys. A two-episode comedy OVA with science fiction and adventure elements.
