A wish for a hero materializes four of them instead, and the movie never explains why that matters until it's too late. The story moves like a heist that keeps doubling back on itself, recontextualizing every choice the characters made five minutes earlier. By the end, you realize the pencil wasn't the thing with power, the girl who used it was, and the movie spent ninety minutes convincing you otherwise. This is a film built for people who want their superhero stories to sting, not reassure.
