A high school kid hauling tofu at 5 AM doesn't know he's already the fastest driver on the mountain. The races themselves are pure rhythm, every downhill corner a conversation between the car and the road. When the Eurobeat kicks in, you stop watching a show about street racing and start feeling why it matters.

Takumi Fujiwara is a high school student who works at a gas station during the day and delivers tofu for his father's shop early every morning, driving the mountain roads of Akina. Unlike his friends, he cares little about cars and knows almost nothing about street racing. Still, his precise driving and his father's modified Toyota AE86 make him the strongest amateur racer on the mountain. When the Akagi Red Suns, a notorious team led by brothers Ryousuke and Keisuke Takahashi, come to take on the Akina pass, one of their aces is overtaken by an old AE86 on the way home. The mysterious driver soon draws challenges from racing groups across Gunma prefecture.
