Onoda walks into high school thinking he's going to find his people in an anime club that doesn't exist, so he joins the cycling team instead, and spends the entire show discovering that was the real club all along. Every character on that team has a reason they ride that has nothing to do with winning, everything to do with who they're becoming. Onoda arrives at high school convinced he'll finally find his people in the anime club. Instead, he discovers the club has been disbanded, leaving him without a crew to bond over his favorite obsessions. Desperate to rebuild it, he needs four recruits willing to join his cause. What he doesn't expect is that his weekly rides on a clunky mamachari bicycle, pedaling up to Akihabara for anime shopping runs, catch the attention of Imaizumi, a serious road racing cyclist training nearby. Surprised by how well Onoda climbs on such an unlikely bike, Imaizumi challenges him to a race, and before long he and fellow freshman Naruko are both urging Onoda to join the competitive cycling club. Once inside the club, Onoda faces tough training, backed by a cast of distinctive upperclassmen, and a talent for road racing he never suspected begins to surface. What starts as a search for fellow anime fans turns into a funny, heartfelt sports story about high school bike racing.
