SYNOPSIS
Takumi Fujiwara's quiet life as a delivery driver in the mountains ends when his childhood rival Keisuke Takahashi extends an unexpected invitation. Keisuke and his brother Ryousuke are assembling Project D, a racing team with one audacious goal: to become the best street racers in Japan by challenging every skilled driver they can find. Takumi's legendary AE86 makes him the perfect downhill specialist, while Keisuke takes the uphill races in his own machine. Using internet challenges to build their reputation, Project D travels across the country hunting worthy opponents, from organized teams to lone wolves with something to prove. What begins as a simple invitation becomes Takumi's education in competitive racing. He learns that pure speed means nothing without strategy, psychology, and intimate knowledge of the road itself. As Project D's legend grows, they attract dangerous rivals: organized teams with sponsorships, resources, and drivers who live for racing. Takumi must evolve from a talented amateur into a true racer, or watch everything he's built crumble against opponents who want to destroy his team's reputation.
