If you've been following Takumi this far, Battle Stage 2 strips away everything but the racing. Two new battles pulled straight from the manga hit different when you finally see them animated, ones the TV series skipped entirely. The pacing doesn't waste a second, and the visuals have teeth this time around.

Battle Stage 2 is a single-episode OVA that condenses the major events and battles of Initial D Fourth Stage into one compilation, in the same way the earlier Battle Stage gathered the races of the first three seasons. It also includes two extra battles taken from the manga. The original Fourth Stage never showed these races in full and only depicted the cars setting off. The result is an action and sports recap centered entirely on the racing.
