Iketani finally gets his second chance with Mako, and the show knows exactly how much that matters to people who watched him blow it the first time. A missed connection that haunted him for six months doesn't resolve in a confession scene, it resolves in a drive where he has to choose between showing up for a stranger and showing up for her. The racing almost doesn't matter here, which is the point, because sometimes the person matters more than the road.
Iketani carries regret like dead weight. Six months ago he let an opportunity slip through his fingers, never bothering to apologize to Mako-chan for his carelessness. When they cross paths again by pure chance, the air between them crackles with unfinished business. Both want to talk. Both agree to meet. But life has other plans. Arriving early to their arranged spot, Iketani encounters an elderly tourist abandoned by his tour bus. The old man needs help catching up with the group before they leave him behind entirely. Iketani's the kind of person who can't refuse a plea for help, even when his own moment matters. So he makes a choice: chase down the bus, be someone reliable, and risk being late to finally make things right with Mako-chan. What unfolds is a quiet meditation on second chances, responsibility, and whether good intentions can bridge gaps already formed. Sometimes the most meaningful stories happen in the spaces between the grand dramatic moments.
