Initial D Fifth Stage is street racing stripped down to its purest obsession: the sound of an engine you've learned to trust more than the driver behind the wheel. Project D, the amateur street racing group led by the tactician Ryousuke Takahashi, has won hard-fought battles in Tochigi, Saitama and Ibaraki. Its drivers, Takumi Fujiwara and Keisuke Takahashi, now carry the hopes of Gunma into Kanagawa, the prefecture racers call the sacred ground of street running. The three strongest teams there join forces behind an elaborate plan called the Four Lines of Defense, meant to stop Project D for good. Takumi, who only narrowly beat Toshiya Joushima last time, feels he must sharpen his driving, and he takes his well-known Hachi-roku into these new battles. Along the way a young golf prodigy catches his attention, and Ryousuke settles an old score. Fans of action, drama and sports anime get fourteen episodes of tactical street racing.
