Each short centers on a character who has no idea what happened on this day in history and learns about the notable events tied to that date. Every episode runs about three minutes, and the 1961 run on Fuji Television totals 312 of them. The animation is sometimes mixed with photographs and film footage, drawn from the archives of the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper, to show the historical moment being described.
