InuYasha doesn't make excuses for what it is, the movie drops you into a ghost story about a father's curse bleeding into his son's rage, and it lets that weight sit without explaining every detail away. A demon sealed away two centuries ago has left behind a dangerous legacy. InuYasha's father imprisoned Hyoga, a powerful demon from China, and now a single Shikon Jewel shard awakens Hyoga's son, Menomaru. He wants to take in what remains of his father's power and seize control of the world, and he goes after InuYasha's sword Tessaiga to do it. When he learns that only the sword's owner can wield it, he abducts Kagome to force InuYasha's hand.
