A single counterfeit bill survives in a time capsule, perfect and undetected, while everyone around it builds their lives on the assumption of its realness. The music video doesn't explain the bill's origin or expose it, it just lets it exist alongside the genuine article, indistinguishable and untouched. What stays with you isn't the heist or the mystery, but the quiet tragedy of something flawless that no one will ever know is wrong.
Miu's song "Itsuwari" gets a music video built around a real piece of Japanese history. In the winter of 1962, Japan saw its first expertly made counterfeit bill, a fake 1,000 yen note. The fakes were spent so cleverly that the culprit was never identified or caught. One of the counterfeits was later sealed in a time capsule at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, alongside a genuine bill. The video takes that story as its inspiration and compares the forged note, which fooled everyone, to the person in the song. It asks whether a lie you come to believe yourself can turn into the truth.
