The comedy comes from Karin being genuinely terrible at everything, at being a magical girl, at school, at understanding why this is happening to her, and the show never punishes her for it. What makes this different from every other magical girl show is that Karin's power doesn't fix her life; it just gives her a reason to keep trying anyway, and that's the whole point.

Karin Hanazono's life has always been rough. She is a thirteen-year-old orphan living with an aunt who calls her stupid and useless, her grades are poor, and she is not much good at sports. While she is grieving her beloved cat, Shii-chan, she meets a mysterious boy named Kazune, and strange incidents begin piling up until Karin learns she is a goddess. The catch is that she is not alone. Others with divine power exist, and as Karin struggles to understand her new abilities, she finds that being a goddess brings real enemies.
