Seven years of forgotten memories return as winter closes in, and each girl Yuuichi meets is a piece of a past he can't quite grasp. The show doesn't romance these connections, it excavates them, layer by layer, until you understand why some promises break people. By the time the final arc hits, you realize every gentle scene was building toward something that shatters, and the show earned every tear it takes from you.

Yuuichi Aizawa steps off a train into a snow-covered town he has not seen in seven years. As a child he often came here to visit his cousin Nayuki Minase, but something kept him away, and his memories of those days have almost entirely faded. Now forced to move suddenly, he is taken in by Nayuki and her mother. Then he starts meeting them: several girls who still remember him, each tied in some way to his forgotten past. As Yuuichi befriends them and spends time with each one, pieces of his childhood begin to return. Not all of those memories are pleasant, though, and the painful ones resurfacing threaten to haunt him. Kanon blends drama, romance, slice of life and supernatural elements across 24 episodes as Yuuichi slowly recovers what he lost in that wintry town.
