Anime Like Kappa no Sanpei
A kid who looks like the thing everyone mocks him for discovers he's actually built for something nobody else can do. SYNOPSIS
A round-faced boy living in the mountains with his grandfather dreams of reaching Tokyo. Sanpei gets teased constantly for his kappa-like appearance, but he stays focused on one goal: winning the school swimming competition and using the prize trip to finally meet his mother, who's been working in the city for years. Determined to improve his terrible swimming skills before the contest, Sanpei sneaks away to a secluded lake for secret practice sessions. What starts as an ordinary training routine becomes something far stranger when he encounters a real kappa in the water. This meeting sets off a chain of events that pulls Sanpei into a world beyond his small mountain village, one where ancient legends and modern ambitions collide. The film balances Sanpei's innocent determination against the supernatural forces stirring around him. His simple wish to reunite with his mother becomes entangled with something much bigger, something that will test whether a lonely kid's determination can survive contact with forces he doesn't understand.
