Tokyo's streets exist in two states at once, one for humans, one for demons nobody can see. A crow-masked enforcer named Karas keeps the balance, but the job is becoming impossible. The OVA's 3D action is genuinely disorienting in the best way; it moves like nothing else from 2005, all violent momentum and spatial weight. This is cyberpunk surveillance paranoia fused with yokai mythology, a six-episode fever dream that respects both halves equally. Yurine and Karas are the only thing holding the world together, and you watch them barely hold on.
Two worlds occupy the same space: one where humans live their ordinary lives, another where demons move unseen along the same streets. A young-looking woman named Yurine and her servant, the Karas, have long kept order between them. Humans have since forgotten demons and mock the idea of them. Disgusted by that arrogance, an old Karas abandons the laws he once upheld. In his human form, called Eko, he builds an army of mechanized demons to strike at humanity, and a wave of murders hits Shinjuku. A young man named Otoha inherits the Karas powers and takes his place at Yurine's side, and he must now prove himself by fighting Eko's forces. Meanwhile, a superstitious police officer, Sagisaka, and his rational new partner, Kure, follow the trail of the killings and of a rogue mechanized demon named Nue. The six-episode OVA mixes action, fantasy and science fiction.
