Nobody talks about this one. Four episodes where actual Kawasaki Frontale players voice themselves as characters in a superhero comedy, playing it completely straight while absurdity happens around them. The collision of real athletes doing comedy bit work creates a specific kind of awkward charm that only exists in this exact collaboration, at this exact moment in time.

Kawasaki Frontale x Tentai Senshi Sunred is a set of four comedy specials from 2009 that team up Tentai Senshi Sunred with Kawasaki Frontale, a professional football club in the J. League. Players from the club appear in the specials and voice themselves, and the result blends sports with comedy.
