A drifter walks into a town with a 15-year-old mystery and accidentally becomes the thing that tips every faction toward open war. Kodama doesn't want to be the fulcrum, but the town is already rotten enough that his mere presence cracks it open. He's solving a cold case while the present tense explodes around him, and by the time he finds what he came for, the town has already burned itself down because of what he disturbed.
George Kodama arrives in the small town of Kimujuku searching for a man named Araki Genzo and looking into an incident that took place there more than fifteen years ago. He is made to feel unwelcome almost at once and is told to leave as soon as he can, and the townsfolk grow uneasy with the wandering stranger in their midst. Two rival syndicates are fighting for control of the streets, and Kodama soon finds himself caught in the middle of their bloody feud, surrounded by shootings and dangerous alliances. Refusing to back down, he pushes against the town to uncover the dark past it keeps hidden. Adapted from Akira Kurosawa's 1961 film Yojimbo, the series runs 25 episodes and blends adventure, drama and mystery.
