This is Kinnikuman at theatrical length, which means the whining, the flop sweat and the gyudon jokes get maybe fifteen minutes before somebody gets folded into a Kinniku Buster. By 1985 the movie run had already shipped Suguru to Planet Metro to win Mari and the belt back off the Octopus Dragon, then out to Planet Hydra when the Underground Space Choujins snatched Robin Mask and started reading his weaknesses off the Robin Memo. This one puts the Seigi Choujin themselves on the marquee, and that's the whole appeal: the roster show, the tag lineups, Meat screaming from the apron while Suguru insists he's about to run away and then absolutely does not. Yudetamago's genius was never plotting, it was that the dumbest man in the ring keeps finding kajiba no kuso djikara at the exact second it counts. Short, loud, drawn like a Saturday brawl, and it never once pretends wrestling is dignified.

While acting in a film at Toei Eigamura, Kinnikuman abruptly vanishes and finds himself in Japan's Edo Period. There, the villain Shuten Douji threatens to destroy the Earth unless Princess Mari is handed over to him. Eager to impress a beautiful girl, Kinnikuman swears to defeat him and goes to the meeting dressed as the princess. Shuten Douji and his Big Four see through the disguise and give him a beating. Learning of his predicament, Terryman, Robin Mask and the other Justice Choujins use Kinkotsu-obaba's powers to follow him into the past. The result is a feature-length mix of action, comedy and sports.
