The Perfect Origin Arc strips away nostalgia and asks what Kinnikuman actually is: a show about ideologies colliding through wrestling, not just poses and one-liners. Every fight designs itself around a character's philosophy instead of their power level. Eight episodes is criminal when the manga gave you this much, but what made it to screen proves the story's bones were always stronger than the spectacle.

Kinnikuman returns to the ring in a TV adaptation of the manga's Perfect Origin Arc, made for the 40th anniversary of the original anime. After a long run of battles, the defeated rivals of the Seigi Choujin agree to an uneasy truce. That calm soon breaks when seven Perfect Choujin known as the Perfect Large Numbers, led by Strong the Budo, arrive in Japan, beat several Seigi Choujin and set the treaty on fire. Terryman, now leader of the Seigi Choujin, answers with a tournament against all seven, relying on Suguru Kinnikuman to turn the odds. The clash pulls in the Justice, Devil and Perfect factions and uncovers where the Chojin first came from, mixing action, comedy and sports-style bouts in the ring.
