Nobody talks about this one. A short film that treats a folktale like a living thing, not a museum piece, where an old man's kindness and unselfconscious joy are so genuine that supernatural creatures recognize it and reward it without irony or trick. The tengu aren't testing him or setting him up for a fall; they're just moved by his presence. It believes in goodness the way most anime stopped believing in anything.

An honest old man comes across a band of tengu, the mythical bird-like creatures of Japanese folklore, as they make merry, and he joins in their dancing. The tengu enjoy his dancing so much that they take away the unsightly lump on the side of his face. The film adapts the traditional tale Kobutori-jiisan.
