Nanma Nuona is the seventh princess of the Peacock Kingdom and the youngest of seven sisters. When the sisters go to bathe and play at the Golden Lake, they happen upon Zhao Shutun, prince of Banzha. He and Nanma Nuona fall for each other at first sight, and a wedding date is soon fixed. Their happiness faces a threat from Ma Haxian, the prime minister of Banzha, a sly and scheming man bent on gaining power and taking the throne. He had hoped his own daughter would marry Zhao Shutun, and Nanma Nuona's arrival ruins that plan. The film is a romantic drama in which love meets political ambition.
