This is a show about failure that refuses to look away from it. The Koto Club bombs at Kanto, and instead of a recovery arc montage, season two just sits with the weight of that loss while these specific people learn to want it again. Every character rebuilds differently, and the soundtrack doesn't score their redemption, it becomes the proof that something real happened in the room where they practiced.

Chika Kudou and the rest of the Tokise High School Koto Club are crushed after their disjointed performance at the Kanto Region Traditional Japanese Music Festival earns poor results. Rather than give up, the seven members agree to sharpen their skills, fix their weaknesses and raise the level of their playing ahead of the national qualifiers in winter. With their advisor Suzuka Takinami now willing to help, they begin to grasp what makes good music and refine their koto technique, taking on more performances to build the experience they lack. The road to nationals is not smooth: strong rival schools and musicians remain a threat, while budding romance and the approaching graduation of senior members test the group and the future of the club. The season blends music, drama and slice-of-life moments as these underdogs work to find their sound.
