Kazuma's deadpan suffering in the face of cosmic incompetence is the entire point, and season 2 leans into it harder than before. The comedy works because nobody in this party is secretly competent, they're all exactly as useless as they appear, which means every plan collapses for reasons that make complete sense. This is what happens when you actually choose the worst possible companion in a fantasy world and have to live with that mistake every single episode.

Kazuma's second chance at adventuring in a fantasy world continues to be a disaster. His party of misfits is still scraping together money for living expenses. Aqua, the goddess he brought along, remains a fairly useless archpriest. Megumin still casts nothing but explosion magic, once a day, and refuses to learn anything else. Darkness, their crusader, never lands a hit and enjoys punishment far too much. After the party saves the town of Axel from the mobile fortress Destroyer, a messenger from the capital arrives with news that Kazuma is suspected of subversion against the state. Plans rarely work out, and the party's own foolishness keeps pulling them off course. The result is a comedic fantasy adventure with ecchi touches, built on clashing personalities and the gap between a heroic quest and everyday trouble.
