A child and an old man watch a real flower grow in a world that forgot what real means. That's the whole story, and it's enough. The movie doesn't need to explain what the tulip represents, you feel it the moment you see it breathing among the plastic. By the end, you understand why someone would return to the same park every day just to witness something that actually lives.

Kumi is a little girl living in a city of shining metal skyscrapers, where robots keep everything running. She plays in a garden beside one of the towers, a place of man-made fountains, artificial plants, and digital water and butterflies. There she meets an old man who comes to the park each day to paint the fake flowers. He tells her that he once found a living, breathing tulip sprouting among the artificial blooms, and the two agree to care for it side by side while it grows. The science fiction film comes from Tezuka Productions as part of Anime Mirai 2015.
