The opening deal is simple: stay quiet, stay safe, do nothing. Then the show spends ninety minutes proving that resignation is the worst kind of contract. Makoto's refusal to act doesn't protect anyone, it just makes him complicit in what happens next. By the time he understands what he's actually agreed to, the weight of that choice stops the entire film cold.

Makoto Nakazono, a high school student, has been able to see grim reapers for as long as he can remember: dark figures that watch people shortly before death and take their souls. Certain that nobody would believe him and that he cannot change anyone's fate, he acts as if he sees nothing. That changes when Akira Seno, a reaper at his school, confronts him and asks whether he plans to get in their way. Makoto answers with resignation that there is nothing he can do, so he won't. Then he learns the reaper has come for his childhood friend Hazuki Horiuchi, and he starts to wonder whether he could put off her fate, even for a short time. The result is a psychological, supernatural film made as part of the 2014 Anime Mirai young animator training project.
