Madoka doesn't become a mecha pilot because destiny chose her or the world needs saving. She does it because someone asked, and helping is what she does. The show trusts that watching a girl in a jersey club stumble into giant robot battles while staying exactly who she is will be enough, and it is.

Madoka Kyouno lives for helping others. The energetic, and only, member of the Jersey Club at Kamogawa Girls' High School spends her days lending a hand to people around Kamogawa, a seaside city in Chiba. That all changes when a mysterious girl named Lan appears with an unexpected request: pilot a robot called Vox and fight the extraterrestrials attacking Earth. Madoka accepts, driven by her wish to protect Kamogawa and the people who live there. Later a girl named Muginami joins her and Lan, and the three work together as Vox pilots guarding the Kamogawa seas. Part action spectacle, part comedy romp, Lagrange blends mecha combat with the lighter touch of a girl who approaches even world-threatening crises with genuine heart.
