Nobody's trying to make this show profound. It's just a bunch of incompetent space goons failing upward, getting distracted by snacks, and somehow becoming likable in the process. The comedy lives in the gap between their grandiose kidnapping schemes and the reality that they're too disorganized to pull off anything, including their own ambitions. If you want something that knows exactly what it is and refuses to apologize for being small and silly, this hits.

Piyoko and the Black Gema Gema Gang take center stage in this eight-episode comedy sci-fi OVA tied to Di Gi Charat. The gang comes from Planet Analogue to Earth with one goal: kidnap Dejiko and demand a ransom for her. They hope the payoff will finally get them the thriving home they have always dreamed of. The result is a lighthearted run of villain-led misadventures.
