This is the one that plays like someone animated a Final Fantasy V fan sequel while nobody at Square was looking, and then let it rip. Prettz shows up with a katana and a motorcycle in a world of airships and crystals, Linaly turns out to be the girl whose blood remembers the Wind Crystal, and Mid keeps the engines running like a proper Cid descendant should. Rouge and her sky pirates hijack the whole tone, half swagger, half slapstick, before Ra Devil drags it back into apocalypse territory. Four episodes, no fat, all the 1994 OVA excess: rubbery motion, wild color, chocobos treated as completely normal transportation. It ages like a cartridge you found in a garage sale, scratched and gorgeous and running anyway.

Two centuries have passed since legendary heroes saved Planet R, a world whose Earth, Water, Fire and Wind are governed by four Crystals, from dark forces that had stolen them. That battle has long since been forgotten. Now three Crystals have been taken once more by agents of the wizard Ra Devil, who needs only the Crystal of Wind to summon the destructive god Deathgyunos. Linaly, a novice summoner descended from the hero Bartz, sets out for the Wind Temple with her grandfather Hassam. Along the way they meet Prettz, a rowdy but likable swordsman with reasons of his own for joining them. When a monster leaves Hassam bedridden, guarding the Wind Crystal falls to Linaly, with Prettz as her protector. To reach it, the pair must get away from Rouge, leader of an army of female pirates, and survive the perilous obstacles that shield the Crystal. The result is a four-episode fantasy OVA that mixes action, adventure and comedy.
