Four months before the Battle of Astarte, Reinhard von Müsel is the youngest admiral the Galactic Empire has ever had, yet his peers scorn him as nothing more than the brother of the Kaiser's concubine. Across the lines is Yang Wen-li of the Free Planets Alliance, a passive officer serving a corrupt democracy and known as the Hero of El Facil. The science fiction action film serves as a prelude to the long-running television series, depicting the first meeting of these two men and considering how heroes come to be.
