They make a deal to bury each other's secrets, then he volunteers to help her confess to someone else, and every single episode after that is him pretending he doesn't care while clearly burning inside. The premise is so clean it shouldn't work: two people who know too much about each other, forced to keep playing strangers while the actual confessions pile up in the space between them. By the time you realize he's been sabotaging her confession attempts all along, you're too invested in watching them fail to admit what they actually want from each other.
