In 1905, the thirty-eighth year of Meiji, the Russo-Japanese War that broke out the year before has turned grim for Japan. Facing that pressure, the country reorganizes the Raimu Squad, whose members are all girls. They go to school and long for love like any other girls their age, with one difference: each of them has Raimu. Inukai Kyoushirou, a young man eager to fight for his nation, is newly appointed to lead the squad. His meeting with its five girls opens a new chapter in the Raimu story. The result is a mecha drama with a strong romantic thread, set against a historical war.
