A college guy raising three girls in a one-room apartment shouldn't work as anything but a premise. It works because the show actually understands that raising kids isn't romantic, it's a series of small failures you have to keep showing up for anyway. The comedy lands not because the situations are absurd, but because they're real, a 3-year-old having a meltdown, a middle schooler pushing boundaries, a teenager resenting the life she didn't choose. By episode three you stop watching a romantic comedy and start watching a man become a father, one small act of patience at a time.

Yuuta Segawa is a 19-year-old university freshman who was raised by his older sister Yuri after their parents died. When Yuri and her husband Shingo leave on a short trip abroad, Yuuta agrees to babysit her three daughters. Then the couple's plane disappears and everyone aboard is presumed dead. To keep the girls from being separated, Yuuta defies the rest of the family and becomes their guardian. Sora is a 14-year-old tsundere, Miu a mischievous 10-year-old and Hina a 3-year-old in daycare. The four squeeze into his tiny six-mat apartment, and Yuuta tries to juggle university life, a people-watching club and fatherhood while the girls grieve their parents. The result is a chaotic, warm mix of comedy, drama and romance.
