Three episodes and it actually respects your time, which is more than most OVAs from 1995 can claim. This one picks up the thread after the Earth Blade arc and the long shadow of Uongadis, and instead of coasting on nostalgia it builds a plot with real structure and a couple of turns you will not see coming from episode one. Adeu is still Adeu, all reckless forward momentum and a Ryu that gets knocked around more than any hero mech should, and the series still trusts that a knight in an oversized mecha is a perfectly reasonable thing to take seriously. The honest part: it does not hit as hard as the first Adeu's Legend, and you can feel the runtime clipping ideas short right when they get interesting. But it stands on its own, no franchise homework required. If you loved the TV run and want one more ride with the crew before the lights go out, this is it.
