Lupin settles into retirement, bored out of his skull, and Jigen dangles one last score in front of him: steal a diamond from inside the Statue of Liberty itself. The animation moves like money, every frame dripping with confidence and wit that makes you feel the con before it lands. Osamu Dezaki directs this like a master thief directing his crew, and the camera angles alone are worth watching frame by frame. If you know Lupin and Jigen's rhythm, you already want this one.

Lupin the Third has stepped back from thieving after Interpol's supercomputer keeps predicting and foiling his plans. His partner Jigen talks him into one last job: finding the Super Egg, an enormous diamond said to be hidden inside the Statue of Liberty. Lupin also sets out to wipe his records from the world police network and learns of the Ultravirus, a program that can command every other virus. Only a young computer prodigy knows where it is. A sinister secret organization gets involved, the diamond and the virus appear to be connected, and Fujiko's loyalties are as uncertain as ever. The result is a one-off adventure comedy special.
