Campusfellow stands on the brink of collapse as the dragon kingdom of Amelia, led by its fierce Queen, pushes into other lands. Amelia holds a monopoly on magic, and the small nation of fire and iron looks certain to fall. Lord Bud Grace makes a last-ditch gamble: bring together the feared witches scattered across the continent, seven in all, to stand against Amelia. When word comes that the Mirror Witch has been captured in the neighboring country of Lowe, Bud heads there with his attendants to take her into his custody. Among them is Rollo, a boy raised as an assassin, trained in every way of killing and called Black Dog. The result is a dark adventure fantasy of war and magic.
