Daigo keeps his promise to Hikaru by building something better than what was broken, one practice at a time. The whole thing runs on this quiet conviction that a baseball team full of girls nobody else believed in could be better than a loaded roster of boys ever was. By the end you're not watching a team get stronger, you're watching kids learn what it means to actually want something together.

Daigo carries a promise forward into middle school: reuniting with Hikaru to form the strongest battery ever. As captain of Fuurin Academy's baseball club, he inherits a roster that's decidedly unconventional. With the older students gone, the team is all girls apart from Daigo, including his elementary school classmate Mutsuko. Only six members remain, and the inexperienced squad has trouble winning the confidence of peculiar new recruits like Akira, Anita and Chisato. With no proper coach, difficult newcomers and too few players, Daigo's resolve is tested as he tries to pull the club together in time for its first tournament. The sports drama mixes comedy with the challenge of rebuilding a team.
