Three completely different stories. Three completely different artists. Each one moves like nothing else on screen, and the hand-drawn craft in every frame feels like watching someone think in animation. The labyrinth breathes. The racer's psychokinesis warps space itself. The robots argue philosophy while the jungle grows over everything. You won't understand all of it. That's not the point. This is animation as pure cinema, where style doesn't decorate the story, it is the story.

Three short films by the directors Rintaro, Yoshiaki Kawajiri and Katsuhiro Otomo make up this anthology movie. In the first, Sachi is looking for her cat, Cicerone, when both fall through a mirror and end up lost in a baffling labyrinth filled with odd people. They trail a clown's shadow without knowing where it leads. The second is set in the far future. Reporter Bob Stone is writing about Zack Hugh, who has been champion of a hugely popular and lethal car race for ten years. By the time they meet, Zack is worn down in body and mind, and he turns psychokinetic powers on his rivals in what is to be his final race. In the last story, salaryman Tsutomo Sugioka is sent deep into a hazardous jungle to halt a fully automated construction project after its foreman goes missing. The robots refuse his orders, and he spends days arguing with them while he hunts for another way to end the job before his company's losses grow too large. Adventure, fantasy, horror and science fiction all run through the collection.
