Yumi Fukuzawa is a shy first-year at Lillian Girls' Academy, an exclusive Catholic school where older girls take younger ones as soeurs, sisters who guide and look out for them. Yumi admires Sachiko Ogasawara, the refined second-year idol of the school and a member of the student council, but thinks herself far too ordinary to ever be chosen. Then an innocent encounter leads Sachiko to ask Yumi, on impulse, to be her soeur, and Yumi turns her down. Sachiko has her own reason for wanting a petite soeur: she hates the thought of dancing with a boy in the upcoming school play. When council member Sei Satou offers Sachiko a way out of the play if she can win Yumi over, Sachiko sets out to do exactly that. Drawn into the circle of the Roses, Yumi begins to make sense of the bonds between the council members and their soeurs, and of her own feelings for Sachiko, in a quiet drama with romantic undertones.
