It keeps doing the thing that made the first run stick: putting kids who never asked for powers in a room with Captain America and making them earn the shield's respect. Makoto's whole origin is a violation, an evil gene manipulation experiment that handed him abilities he didn't consent to, and season two picks that up without pretending the training montage fixed it. The mentor structure is still the point. Iron Man, Cap, Hulk, Thor and Wasp aren't cameos here, they're the coaching staff, and watching apprentices try to hold a line next to people who never lose is where the show lives. Thirteen episodes is a tight second act, so the growth beats hit harder than the first season's wider sprawl. If you were in it for Makoto figuring out whether powers built by bad people can be used for good, this is the chapter that keeps asking.
