This is what happens when you hand animators a blank check and let them draw wonder for 90 minutes straight. Mary's flight through clouds, the way light bends through Endor College's hallways, the casual magic in every frame, it's so purely about the joy of watching that the story almost doesn't matter. A kid finds a flower and a broom, lies mess everything up, and learns the price of that lie. The animation does the real work.

A curious girl named Mary follows a mysterious cat into the forest near her home and finds an old broomstick and a rare blue flower that blooms only once every seven years. When the flower touches the broom, magic takes hold. She is suddenly airborne, soaring above the clouds toward Endor College, a school of magic where she is mistaken for a new student. There she meets headmistress Madam Mumblechook and the brilliant Doctor Dee. But terrible things are happening behind the school's walls, and when Mary tells a lie, she must risk her life to set things right. The film is a fantasy adventure about a girl finding her footing in a strange world of witchcraft.
