Rockman steps into actual Japan and the show just... lets him be curious instead of making it a joke. The chemistry between him and the cast turns what could've been a throwaway crossover into something that actually feels earned, even in three episodes. It's the Saturday morning cartoon special that got shelved because it didn't fit the reboot's house style, but it's the one worth digging up.

Three short episodes of Mega Man action and science fiction adventure, released together in 2002. In the second episode, Mega Man leaves the Game-World and crosses into the real world to learn how Japanese culture differs from what he knows. That episode was first made as a special for the American Mega Man cartoon, then dropped when that show was redesigned. Two more episodes continuing the same story followed under the Rockman name. Capcom of Japan put all three on DVD for the character's 15th anniversary, with Japanese and English audio.
