The family you build can matter more than the one you're born into, and this movie proves it by tearing that family apart and making you feel every second of the separation. Kyoto Animation animates love the way other studios animate action, with such precise detail in how hands hold and eyes soften that you forget you're watching drawings. By the time Kanna has to choose between her father's world and the life she's made, the movie has already won, because you know exactly what she's losing either way.

Kanna's world splinters the moment her father arrives. Kamun Kamui, leader of the Chaos Forces, demands she return to the Dragon World to set right a mistake from her past, just as war looms between the dragons of Chaos and Harmony. Kanna is charged with finding a way to bring the two worlds together, yet she is caught between loyalty to Kobayashi, Tohru and Iruru and what her father wants from her. Kobayashi will not let her go, and she works to repair the strained relationship between Kanna and Kamui. As the dragons fight, Iruru uncovers a concealed force steering the war, and the group must stop the conflict before it swallows both worlds. This theatrical film continues the story after the second season and its OVA.
