SYNOPSIS
Mai Tokiha is just trying to survive her last year of high school while raising her sick brother alone. She transforms into a HiME, a warrior princess bound to defend humanity against encroaching supernatural forces. But Mai quickly learns she's one of twelve girls carrying this same burden. Together, they're meant to fight an unknowable threat. The problem is nobody explained the full cost of their power. Each battle demands something precious, and not every girl survives the experience. As alliances form and fracture, Mai realizes this isn't a simple good-versus-evil story. The other HiMEs have their own agendas, their own reasons for fighting, and some of them might be her enemies. Blending magical girl action with genuine stakes and genuine heartbreak, this series asks whether saving the world means sacrificing everyone you care about.
