Anime Like My Roommate is a Cat
A shut-in writer finds a stray cat, brings him home, and the cat saves his life without either of them knowing it yet. The show switches between Subaru's perspective and the cat's, and by episode three you realize they're both lonely in exactly the same way, just in different languages. It's a show about two broken things learning that existing near someone else is sometimes enough, that you don't have to be fixed to matter to another life.
SYNOPSIS
Subaru writes mystery novels for a living, but human interaction drains him. People interrupt his creative flow, their unpredictability clashing with the controlled worlds he builds on the page. When he rescues a stray cat and brings it home, something shifts. The cat becomes his unlikely companion, and Subaru finds himself captivated by its strange habits and independent nature. He watches how it moves through his apartment, the way it chooses where to sit, how it demands attention on its own terms. These observations spark something in his writing. But living with another creature, even a silent one, changes him in ways he didn't expect. The cat challenges his need for solitude while somehow making his life feel less hollow.
