Naruto as a high school comedy where the only thing that matters is becoming a "souban" hits exactly because it's the show asking itself what it would be if none of the genocide and war crimes happened. Eight minutes of pure momentum, no time to explain the joke before the next one lands. Naruto and his friends land in a very different setting in this comedic detour from the main series. The special is presented as a black and white picture drama and was sold with the limited edition of the seventh Naruto Shippuden DVD.
