Asta's entire existence is a middle finger to a world that decided he doesn't belong, and the show refuses to let you pity him for it. Asta and Yuno grow up together after being abandoned at the same church orphanage on the outskirts of the Clover Kingdom. As children they promise to compete for the title of Wizard King, given to the kingdom's strongest mage. In a world where everyone wields magic, Yuno is a prodigy while Asta has no magical power at all and trains his body to make up for it. At fifteen, Yuno receives a four-leaf clover grimoire once held by the first Wizard King, and Asta gets nothing. When a thief attacks Yuno to steal that grimoire, Asta summons a rare five-leaf grimoire of Anti-Magic that cancels spells, and he defeats the thief. The two then join separate squads of the Magic Knights, rivals and friends chasing the same goal. The show is a long-running shonen fantasy that mixes action, adventure and comedy.
