Naruto and Sasuke finally fight on the same side, and the movie knows that's the only premise you came for. The supporting cast gets real moments to shine, Shikamaru, Sai, Shino all get fights that matter, instead of standing around while the leads posture. The plot collapses under its own weight and nobody cares, because you're here to watch ninjas you've followed for years actually do something together.

A sudden assault devastates the Hidden Leaf Village, leaving the ninja world teetering on the edge of catastrophe. Flying ninjas from the Land of Sky have struck, seeking revenge on their old foe, and the threat of another shinobi world war looms. Naruto is kept from the fight by Shinnou, a mysterious doctor who needs his help with an injured man, and he soon meets Amaru, a hot-tempered youngster from a nearby village who is searching for the doctor. Tsunade sends one team to hit the enemy base and assigns Naruto, Sakura and Hinata to escort Shinnou and Amaru. Meanwhile, Orochimaru orders Sasuke to capture the doctor, and Sasuke appears before Naruto once again.
