Naruto finally meets his father without knowing it, and the movie knows exactly what that does to you. The time travel doesn't fix Naruto's broken past, it just lets him stand in it for two hours, watching Minato move through the world like a ghost he'll never catch. That's the real sting: knowing what Naruto wants and making him reach for it anyway, just out of reach.

Naruto, Sakura and Sai, led by Yamato, are sent to capture Mukade, a rogue ninja chasing an ancient chakra source sealed beneath the Rouran ruins by the Fourth Hokage. They fail to stop him from unleashing its power, and a burst of energy engulfs Naruto and Yamato. Naruto wakes twenty years in the past in a grand but hostile kingdom, where he meets its young queen Saara and three Konoha ninja on a secret mission, and he also encounters the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. Mukade has already worked his way into the royal court as Anrokuzan, the trusting queen's closest minister. Teaming up with the three ninja, Naruto must keep Saara safe, stop the villain and find a way back to his own time in this action comedy film.
