Temujin hits different because he's not trying to destroy the world, he's trying to save it, and Naruto can't argue with that. The action sequences finally feel like they belong in the same universe as the manga fights instead of being watered-down filler. The story stumbles when it tries to explain itself, but the moment-to-moment combat and Naruto's genuine uncertainty about whether he's fighting an enemy or a misguided ally carries you through the noise.

Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru take on what seems like a simple errand: bring a lost ferret back to a village. Their mission falls apart when the armored knight Temujin and his troops ambush the team and split them up. Naruto faces Temujin in a hard fight that ends with both of them falling from a cliff. Meanwhile, a gigantic moving fortress appears and tears through the trees and rocks in its way. While Sakura goes looking for Naruto, Shikamaru slips into the fortress alone to make sense of the situation, and what he sees inside is alarming. The same armored forces have already struck the Land of Wind, and the Leaf ninjas end up fighting alongside the Sand ninjas against this shared enemy, as two opposing ideas of an ideal world come into conflict. The film mixes action, adventure, comedy and supernatural fantasy.
